Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin P. Slaughter.
Hi Justin P., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m an Award Winning American Actor and Producer known for quite a few of films. Notably “90 Feet From Home”, “Meteor”, “Egress” and the Critically Acclaimed short film “Love & Other Crimes”. I’ve recently Co Produced 3 Tv Pilots, was the Casting Director of those 3 and a Actor in one of the 3 Tv Pilots that’ll be released soon; I cannot disclose too much information on them just yet but know they’re going to be a game changer.
It was also an honor to be able to cast a lot of the Actors and Actresses from the same Talent Agency that I’m also represented by; Pastorini-Bosby Talent Agency.
None of this would have happened had I not taken the opportunity from Catrett Locke to want to book me in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters as a double for Kenneth Israel back in 2017 during Hurricane Harvey. This opportunity put me on the trajectory towards many opportunities in the film industry which led to my first supporting role in “90 Feet From Home”.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. When you want to be more than just an Actor there’s always trials and tribulations that comes with that. The knowledge you have to obtain to being a Producer, the knowledge you have to obtain to also becoming a Casting Director.
Not just that but once you become a Award Winning Actor, even though it seems incredible and it does however, now you have to level up even from that point because you don’t want to get complacent or back peddle and digress from what got you to that level. You have to constantly push yourself to be better and the same time enjoy every bit of it. It can all be very overwhelming.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an Actor and a Producer in the film industry. I specialize in embodying written characters from script to film. I also produce Intellectual Properties which is another way of saying “I make movies and Tv shows. I’m most proud of stepping into another realm of the genre and becoming a Casting Director for a few Tv Pilots.
I’ve been an Actor the longest and that’s my passion so adding the Producer title to my resume was a remarkable achievement for me and now adding Casting Director to it and seeing the Talents that I’ve casted for the shows and their incredible performances that was put on display during filming really was extraordinary. What I believe sets me apart from others is the will power and desire to help others not just get their foot in the door but also get them in the room and ready for work.
