Meet Tany Manzat of Breilee Farm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tany Manzat.

Hi Tany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Romania and moved to the United States with my family when I was in high school. Some of my favorite childhood memories are from my mom’s garden, where I spent hours playing among the flowers, picking little bouquets, and simply enjoying being outside. Those early days sparked a love for flowers that has stayed with me throughout my life. Even then, I was dreaming about one day owning a business of my own, though I never imagined it would eventually combine my love of flowers, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
My career path took a few unexpected turns before I got there. I initially pursued nursing and worked in the medical field, but later transitioned into Human Resources and recruiting, where I built a successful career helping people find opportunities and grow professionally. Throughout those years, the dream of working with flowers never really left me.
Eventually, I decided to pursue that lifelong passion and started building what is now Breilee Flower Farm. Today, I own and operate a flower farm and garden venue where we grow seasonal flowers, host events, and create custom floral designs. One of my favorite parts of the business is designing wedding florals and helping couples bring their vision to life on one of the most important days of their lives.
Looking back, my journey has not been a straight line, but every step helped shape the business I have today. What started as a childhood dream playing with flowers, has grown into a career that combines creativity, entrepreneurship, and a love for helping people celebrate life’s special moments.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it has definitely not been a smooth road.

For years, it felt like every goal was just one step further away than I expected. Along the way, I balanced career changes, family life, and the challenges that come with building something from the ground up. My husband was deployed twice, we started raising our children, and I was constantly learning new skills as I navigated different stages of my life and career.

Building the flower farm itself was one of the biggest challenges. Five years ago, this property was simply a pasture with a few cattle grazing in it. There were no flower fields, event spaces, or gardens. Everything you see today was built from scratch through a lot of hard work, trial and error, and determination.

I had to learn farming, floral design, business operations, event planning, marketing, and countless other skills along the way. There were many long days, setbacks, and moments when it would have been easier to give up. But every challenge taught me something valuable and helped shape the business into what it is today.

Looking back, the struggles make the success even more meaningful. Seeing couples get married surrounded by flowers grown on our farm and watching guests enjoy the space we’ve created reminds me why all the hard work was worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Breilee Farm , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Breilee Flower Farm is a flower farm, floral design studio, and garden venue located in the Pacific Northwest. We grow a wide variety of seasonal flowers right here on the farm and use many of those blooms in our custom floral designs for weddings, events, and special occasions.

What makes us different is that we are truly a farm-to-arrangement business. For many of our weddings, we work with couples months in advance to understand their vision, color palette, and floral preferences. We then intentionally plant specific flowers and colors for their wedding, nurturing them throughout the growing season and harvesting them just before the big day. This allows us to create floral designs that are not only beautiful and personalized, but also incredibly fresh and meaningful.

In addition to wedding and event florals, our property serves as a garden venue where guests can enjoy the beauty of the farm throughout the growing season. We are passionate about creating memorable experiences, whether that is through a bridal bouquet, a large-scale wedding installation, or simply walking through rows of blooming flowers.

One thing I am especially proud of is how much of the business has been built with intention and heart. Five years ago, this property was simply a pasture with a few cattle. Today, it has been transformed into a thriving flower farm and gathering place where people celebrate some of life’s most important moments. We have worked hard to create a brand that feels welcoming, authentic, and deeply connected to both nature and community.

At the end of the day, we are not just selling flowers. We are growing memories. From planting the first seeds for a couple’s wedding to harvesting those blooms and turning them into stunning floral designs, we are honored to be part of some of the most meaningful days in our clients’ lives.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my family, my faith, and creating meaningful experiences for others.

My family has been the foundation behind everything I have built. Through career changes, deployments, raising children, and starting a business from scratch, they have supported me every step of the way. They remind me why I work hard and why building a life filled with purpose matters.

I also care deeply about creating something meaningful through my work. Flowers may seem simple, but they become part of some of the most important moments in people’s lives. Weddings, anniversaries, celebrations, and family gatherings are memories that last forever, and I feel incredibly honored to play a small role in those moments.

What drives me every day is the idea of leaving things more beautiful than I found them. Whether that means transforming an empty pasture into a flower farm, helping a bride bring her vision to life, or creating a welcoming space where people can gather and connect, I find purpose in building things that bring joy to others.

At the end of the day, success for me is not measured by how many flowers we sell or how busy the farm becomes. It is measured by the people we impact, the memories we help create, and the legacy we leave behind for our family and community.
