Meet Alexandria Brown of Summit View Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Brown.

Hi Alexandria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Summit View Marketing because I saw how many small businesses were struggling to keep up with marketing while also trying to actually run their companies. A lot of owners know they need social media, content, websites, and branding, but they simply don’t have the time, team, or strategy to make it consistent. I wanted to create something that made marketing feel approachable, personal, and effective for local businesses.
My background is rooted in both marketing and relationship building. Over the years, I’ve worked in communications, event planning, social media management, branding, and community outreach, while also building strong connections throughout the Olympia and Thurston County area. I’ve always been creative and people focused, so combining storytelling with business growth felt natural to me.
What started as helping a few local businesses with social media and content creation quickly grew into a full service marketing company. Today, Summit View Marketing works with contractors, restaurants, automotive businesses, family owned companies, and other small businesses that want a stronger presence without feeling overwhelmed by the process.
A huge part of my growth has come from building real relationships and focusing on authenticity. I don’t believe in one size fits all marketing. Every business has its own personality, story, and goals, and I try to bring that to life through content, branding, websites, video, and strategy.
Where I am today has definitely come with challenges, learning experiences, and a lot of hard work, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. Watching local businesses gain confidence in their brand, attract new customers, and grow their visibility is what continues to motivate me and push Summit View Marketing forward.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. For a long time, I was balancing working full time while trying to build Summit View Marketing on the side. At the same time, I was also trying to balance being a mom, maintaining relationships with family and friends, and still finding time for myself while building something from the ground up. There were a lot of long days, late nights, and moments where it felt overwhelming trying to give my energy to everything and everyone at once.
I poured everything into the job I had at the time because I genuinely cared about the work, the people, and making an impact. Losing that job was honestly one of the hardest moments for me, but looking back now, it was also the push I needed. That experience made me realize I never wanted my future, my stability, or my passion to be completely in someone else’s hands again. It forced me to take a chance on myself and fully commit to building my own business.
Like a lot of entrepreneurs, especially mothers trying to build something of their own, there were plenty of moments filled with fear, uncertainty, and wondering if I was making the right decision. Starting your own business doesn’t come with guarantees, and stepping away from a steady paycheck can feel overwhelming. But it’s also been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made.
If I could give advice to another mother or business owner who’s stuck between staying comfortable and pursuing their dream full time, I’d say take the leap. There’s never going to be a “perfect” time. It’s scary, but sometimes you have to trust yourself enough to go all in. Things may not fall into place overnight, but if you’re willing to work hard, stay consistent, and keep showing up, it does start to come together.

As you know, we’re big fans of Summit View Marketing. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Summit View Marketing is a marketing consulting agency focused on helping small businesses grow through authentic, approachable, and strategic marketing. We work with a lot of local, small businesses that either don’t have the time or resources to manage marketing consistently on their own.
What makes us different is that we really focus on relationships and personalization. I never wanted Summit View Marketing to feel like a big agency where clients get lost in the shuffle or handed cookie cutter content. I take the time to understand each business, their goals, their personality, and the people behind the brand so we can create marketing that actually feels genuine to them.
We specialize in social media management, content creation, branding, short and long form video, website support, and helping businesses create a strong local presence online. A big part of what we do is simplifying marketing for business owners so it no longer feels overwhelming or like another full time job on top of everything else they already manage.
I think what we’ve become most known for is creating content that feels real and relatable instead of overly polished or corporate. People connect with authenticity, especially with local businesses, and that’s something I really try to bring into every project and client relationship.
Brand wise, I’m most proud that Summit View Marketing has grown largely through word of mouth, networking, and relationships within the community. That means a lot to me because it shows trust. I’ve built this business by genuinely caring about the people I work with and wanting to see them succeed.
I want readers to know that Summit View Marketing is more than just posting on social media. We help businesses tell their story, build confidence in their brand, connect with their audience, and create a marketing presence that reflects who they truly are. My goal is always to make marketing feel less intimidating and more achievable for small business owners who are already wearing so many hats. I am grateful to be a part of all of my clients stories and success.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes! marketing is constantly evolving, so I’m always learning and staying plugged into what’s changing with algorithms, content strategy, and consumer behavior. A big part of how I stay sharp is through podcasts, YouTube channels, and industry updates that break things down in a practical way, not just theory.
I also really value learning from other business owners. I’ve built a strong local network of entrepreneurs and creatives that I can lean on for advice, perspective, and real life experience. That community piece is huge for me because you learn just as much from conversations and shared experiences as you do from formal education. A lot of times, other business owners have already made the mistakes you’re trying to avoid, and being able to learn from that is incredibly valuable.
Some of the most helpful resources for me are marketing and business podcasts that focus on social media strategy, small business growth, and branding especially anything that helps me stay ahead of algorithm shifts or understand how platforms are changing. I also use YouTube a lot for quick updates and breakdowns of new features or trends in real time.
Beyond the tools and content, I think what helps me the most is staying curious and consistently surrounding myself with people who are also building, growing, and figuring it out. That mix of education and community keeps me adaptable and grounded in a space that is always changing.
