Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Salgado.
Hi christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My music comes from my kids. A lot of it is shaped by not being able to see them, and everything that comes with that—love, pain, regret, hope. Creating music became the only way I knew how to process those feelings and stay connected to them.
Even when I’m not physically present, my kids are at the center of everything I do. My journey is about turning that absence into something meaningful and using music as a way to keep going, healing, and holding on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. One of the hardest struggles has been being separated from my kids. Missing moments I can never get back—like my son’s 4th birthday—has been especially painful.
That absence has been heavy, emotionally and mentally, and it’s something I still carry. Music became my outlet and my survival tool, a way to deal with the hurt, stay connected to my kids, and keep moving forward even when things felt stacked against me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
> My work is my music. I create from real life, not trends. What I specialize in is honest, emotional storytelling—music that comes from lived experience, especially around fatherhood, loss, and separation. I’m known for being raw and unfiltered, saying things a lot of people feel but don’t always say out loud.
>
> What I’m most proud of is staying true to myself and my story, even when it’s uncomfortable. I don’t make music just to sound good—I make it to mean something.
>
> What sets me apart is that my music isn’t manufactured. It’s personal. Every track has purpose, and everything I create is rooted in love for my kids and the hope that one day they’ll hear it and know I never stopped fighting for them.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
> For me, networking wasn’t about chasing clout or forcing connections. What worked best was staying genuine and letting the work speak first. I focused on building real relationships, not just contacts—showing respect, listening, and being consistent.
>
> When it comes to mentors, the biggest lesson I learned is that they don’t always come from formal situations. Sometimes it’s just someone who sees your effort and believes in your grind. Being open to learning, taking feedback without ego, and showing up even when it’s hard made a big difference for me.
>
> My advice is to move with honesty, stay patient, and don’t underestimate the power of real connections over time.
