Check Out Sarah C’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah C.

Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born with Erb’s Palsy (Brachial Plexus Injury since birth), and growing up, creativity became one of the ways I learned to navigate the world and express myself. I’ve always been drawn to cameras and storytelling. Even as a kid, I was constantly creating, imagining scenes differently, and looking at the world through an out-of-the-box lens. Photography became more than just taking pictures for me, it became a way to create emotion, connection, and entire worlds people could step into.

Over time, that passion evolved into cosplay and fantasy photography, where I found a space that perfectly blended creativity, imagination, and empowerment. I love turning ideas into something magical and cinematic, whether that means elaborate character concepts, dramatic edits, or helping someone see themselves as powerful, beautiful, or larger than life. A lot of my work is about helping people escape limitations, embrace self-expression, and feel confident in who they are.

Living with a disability also shaped the way I create. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to approach challenges differently. Instead of seeing things through a traditional lens, I’ve always naturally looked for unique angles, creative solutions, and ways to make something memorable. That mindset has carried into every part of my career.

Today, I combine photography, storytelling, fantasy, and branding to create art that feels immersive and meaningful. Whether I’m photographing cosplayers, building cinematic concepts, or creating empowering experiences for clients, my goal has always been the same: to make people feel seen, inspired, and a little more magical than they did before stepping in front of my camera.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Having Erb’s Palsy meant I grew up facing physical limitations and moments where people underestimated me before even getting to know me. There were times I had to work twice as hard to prove I was capable, especially in creative spaces that can be physically demanding. Learning to adapt instead of give up became a huge part of my life early on.

Financially and professionally, building a creative career also came with challenges. Photography and art are incredibly competitive industries, and there were moments where I questioned whether I could realistically turn my passion into something sustainable. I had to learn not only the creative side of the business, but also marketing, branding, networking, and how to confidently put myself out there.

I’ve also faced struggles with self-doubt and feeling different, especially growing up with a disability while trying to find where I belonged creatively. But honestly, those experiences shaped the heart behind my work. They’re part of why I’m so passionate about fantasy and cosplay photography. I know what it feels like to want to escape limitations, to want to feel powerful, confident, and fully seen. Creating that experience for other people became deeply meaningful to me.

Another challenge was learning to embrace being different instead of trying to fit into traditional boxes. I’ve always thought creatively and approached things from a unique perspective, which sometimes meant my path looked unconventional compared to others. But over time, I realized that thinking outside the box is actually one of my greatest strengths. It’s what allows me to create work that feels imaginative, emotional, and immersive.
Every struggle taught me resilience, adaptability, and empathy, and those lessons continue to shape both my art and the way I connect with people today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer, creative storyteller, advocate, and entrepreneur who specializes in cosplay, fantasy, portrait, and cinematic photography. My work focuses on creating immersive, emotional, and empowering imagery that helps people feel transformed when they step in front of the camera. I love blending fantasy, creativity, and storytelling to create images that feel like they belong in another world while still capturing something authentic about the person in them.

I’m especially known for thinking outside the box creatively. Whether it’s through elaborate concepts, dramatic lighting, compositing, editing, or helping clients fully embody a character or emotion, I’m always looking for ways to create something unique rather than just another photo. A lot of my work is inspired by emotion, imagination, cosplay culture, and the idea of helping people escape limitations and see themselves differently.

What I’m most proud of is being able to build a creative career while living with Erb’s Palsy and turning something that could have been seen as a limitation into part of my strength and perspective as an artist.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
If you worked hard at something, put your whole heart and soul into it, and are happy with the result = success. Success is unique to each person.
