Meet KC KIM of KC KIM FITNESS

Today we’d like to introduce you to KC KIM.

Hi KC, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Who I Am

I am a driven, disciplined and growth oriented person who believes in becoming better through consistent effort, experience and self-reflection. I have always been someone who wants to understand how things work, improve my abilities and push myself beyond where I was yesterday.

At my core, I am a builder. I enjoy taking an idea and turning it into something real. That mindset has carried into my fitness, my career as a personal trainer and the development of KC KIM FITNESS. I don’t need constant attention or social-media validation to feel successful. I value genuine relationships, reputation, trust, word of mouth and the impact I can make directly on another person’s life.

My Drive

I am highly motivated and naturally action oriented. I feel most alive when I am moving forward, training, working, learning, creating, helping someone, or accomplishing something meaningful.

Fitness is much more than exercise to me. It has become part of who I am and one of the ways I challenge myself, maintain discipline and stay mentally grounded.

How I Treat People

I genuinely care about the people around me.

As a trainer, I don’t simply want clients to complete workouts. I want them to understand what they’re doing, feel confident, move safely and eventually become capable of taking ownership of their own fitness.

I value connection over superficial interaction. I would rather have a meaningful conversation with one person than be surrounded by hundreds of people who don’t really know me.

I believe people remember how you made them feel and I want the people I work with to feel respected, encouraged, understood and supported.

My Strengths

-Discipline: I can stay committed when something matters to me.
-Persistence: I don’t give up easily when I believe in something.
-Curiosity: I constantly want to learn and understand.
-Self-improvement: I naturally look for ways to become better.
-Empathy: I care about how other people feel.
-Leadership: I enjoy helping people become stronger and more confident.
-Independence: I am comfortable building something without needing everyone else’s approval.
-Resilience: Adversity tends to motivate me to adapt and improve.
-Connection: I value meaningful relationships over superficial attention.

In my late teens and early 20s, I began working at a well established supplement store, where I developed a strong interest in nutrition, supplementation and how they affect the body. During that time, I also took nutrition classes at my local community college, continuing to build my knowledge and curiosity about health and fitness.

As my passion grew, I became increasingly motivated to challenge myself and build my own body. I eventually began working at a personal training studio as an Assistant Manager, where I had the opportunity to learn different training techniques, methods and variations from experienced and well established professionals.

Competitively, I am a former 170lbs kickboxing champion and a former regional level CrossFit competitor. These experiences taught me discipline, resilience, accountability and how to perform under pressure. Today, I bring those lessons into my coaching and training, helping others overcome obstacles, build confidence and to build a purpose to achieve actual results.

Throughout my journey in weightlifting, powerlifting, kickboxing and CrossFit, I have always believed in the value of having great coaches, trainers and nutrition professionals around me. I have personally invested in working with people who were more knowledgeable and experienced than I was. When you do your research and find the right person to work with, I truly believe it can make the process more effective, more productive and ultimately more successful.

One of the principles I have carried with me throughout my journey is to remain open-minded. No matter how much we may believe we know, there is always more to learn. Every experience, every coach, every client and every challenge has something to teach us. I believe growth comes from being willing to listen, learn, adapt and take something valuable from every experience.

At one point in my life, I stepped away from my passion to pursue a career that offered a greater salary and what I believed was the “right” path toward becoming an adult. At the time, I thought I was making the responsible decision.

But life has a way of bringing you back to where you are meant to be.

Very long story short, nearly 20 years later, I found my way back to my passion and created KC KIM FITNESS. I finally had the opportunity to return to what I had always known, what I had always loved and what so many people throughout my journey had told me was part of my purpose.

Today, my purpose is bigger than simply helping someone lift weights or lose body fat. It is about helping people find their own path, build confidence, improve their health and discover what they are capable of achieving both physically and mentally.

I have also taken a somewhat different approach when building KC KIM FITNESS. I am not a social media person and I intentionally chose not to rely on social media to build my business.

KC KIM FITNESS has been built through genuine relationships, client results, reviews, networking and word of mouth. I believe there is something more personal and meaningful about sitting down with someone, getting to know their story, understanding their goals and building trust through the work we do together.

In a world where so much of fitness is presented through social media, likes, followers and quick transformations, I prefer a more personal approach. I believe real connection, accountability, trust and results speak for themselves.

I also appreciate the fact that building my business this way allows me to focus less on distractions and more on the people in front of me. Every review, referral and new client who comes through a recommendation means something to me because it represents a person who experienced the work firsthand and felt strongly enough about it to share it with someone else.

That is the kind of business I want KC KIM FITNESS to be, a business built on people, relationships, trust and results rather than simply visibility.

Who knows, maybe one day I will create some type of social media platform but for now, I am staying true to myself and staying on my path.

KC KIM FITNESS may be a newer business but the experience, passion and journey behind it have been decades in the making. I have already been fortunate enough to see incredible results and receive meaningful feedback from my clients and members and I am incredibly grateful for every person who has trusted me with a part of their fitness journey.

I have had the privilege of working with people ranging from 8 to 81 years old and every individual has their own story, challenges, goals and definition of success. That is what makes this work so rewarding to me.

I am truly thankful, grateful and blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people throughout my life. I genuinely care about the success of the people I work with, not only in fitness but in life.

Lastly, I want to thank every person who has put their trust in me, believed in me and believed in the process.

Your success is what makes this journey worthwhile.

…And after nearly 20 years away from my passion,
I can honestly say that I am exactly where I am supposed to be!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge may be learning that I don’t always have to be moving forward.

I have spent a significant part of my life pursuing improvement, physically, professionally and personally. That drive has helped me accomplish a lot but it can also make slowing down feel uncomfortable.

I am learning that rest isn’t necessarily stagnation.

I am learning that productivity isn’t the only measure of progress.

I am learning that I don’t always need someone to respond to my excitement in exactly the way I would respond to theirs.

And I am learning that being strong doesn’t mean ignoring my emotional needs. It means understanding them and communicating them in a healthy way.

Another challenge throughout this process was creating my own website. I didn’t come from a background in web development or design but I wanted to create something myself that genuinely represented who I am and what KC KIM FITNESS stands for.

There was definitely a learning curve but I wanted to be involved in the process rather than simply hand it off to someone else. Being able to build it myself gives me a sense of ownership and control. If something needs to be changed, updated, or improved, I can navigate it and get it done myself. It may take me a little longer at times but there is something rewarding about knowing I built it and can continue to shape it as my business grows.

That said, the journey has absolutely not been a solo one. I’ve been fortunate to have so many great people around me who have been willing to brainstorm, share ideas, offer advice and help me navigate areas outside of my expertise. I’ve had the opportunity to bounce ideas off highly knowledgeable professionals in web development and design and their insight has been incredibly valuable.

More than anything, this experience has reminded me how amazing my community is. I’ve been fortunate to surround myself with genuinely great people who want to see you succeed and are willing to take time out of their own lives to help, whether it’s something big or something as simple as offering an idea, making a connection or giving honest feedback.

I may be building KC KIM FITNESS but I certainly haven’t built it alone. The support of my community, knowledge, encouragement and generosity of the people around me have been an important part of the journey.

There will always be adversity in life. Challenges are difficult to avoid but when you are pursuing something that doesn’t feel like “work,” the process becomes much more meaningful and enjoyable.

Everyone will face their own share of obstacles, setbacks and difficult moments. What shapes us is not whether we experience adversity but how we respond to it. Learning to face challenges, adapt and overcome them is what allows us to grow stronger and better.

I believe adversity is not something we should simply try to avoid. It is often through the most difficult experiences that we discover who we are and what we are truly capable of.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about KC KIM FITNESS?
KC KIM FITNESS is a personal training business built around one simple belief: fitness should be personal, sustainable and purposeful.

Today, I specialize in helping people become stronger, healthier and more confident through individualized personal training. My approach can include strength and muscle development, fat loss, conditioning, boxing/kickboxing and developing the foundational skills necessary for people who may be completely new to the gym or even someone looking to be challenged more.

What sets KC KIM FITNESS apart is the personal connection I try to create with every person I work with. I don’t believe there is one perfect program or approach that works for everyone. Every individual has a different history, body, goal, personality and starting point. My job is to meet people where they are, understand what they need, and help them build a sustainable path forward.

I also believe strongly in remaining a student myself. Throughout my own journey, I have learned that no matter how much we think we know, there is always more to learn. I continue to listen, learn, adapt and surround myself with knowledgeable people because I believe that makes me a better trainer and allows me to provide a better service to my clients.

Another thing that makes KC KIM FITNESS unique is how I have chosen to build the business. I am not a social media person and I have intentionally built KC KIM FITNESS without relying on social media. Instead, I have focused on reviews, networking, genuine relationships, client results and word of mouth. I believe there is something more meaningful about building a business through real human connections rather than simply chasing followers, likes, or online attention.

I am especially proud of the fact that KC KIM FITNESS has already begun to grow through the people I have worked with. I have had the privilege of working with individuals ranging from 8 to 81 years old and each person has their own goals and definition of success. Seeing someone become stronger, more confident, healthier, or simply more comfortable in their own body is what makes this work so rewarding for me.

Ultimately, I want readers to know that KC KIM FITNESS is about much more than exercise. It is about helping people find their own path and purpose through fitness and health. There will always be adversity in life but I believe that learning how to face challenges, adapt and overcome them is what allows us to become better.

KC KIM FITNESS may be new, but the passion, experience, and purpose behind it have been nearly 20 years in the making. I am incredibly proud of what has already been built but I am even more excited about the people I will have the opportunity to help along the way.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like to acknowledge the people who have been there for me throughout this journey.

First and foremost, God. I believe that through His guidance, we are given the strength, opportunities and direction to move forward in life. I never want to take those blessings for granted. Every opportunity I have been given, every challenge I have overcome and every person who has entered my life has played a part in shaping who I am today. I am truly grateful and blessed for the path I have been given and for the opportunity to use my experiences to help others.

Special thanks to my wife, Tara and my daughter, Monroe. Their love, support, patience and understanding have meant more to me than I can put into words…most of the time. HA!
Pursuing a passion and building a business takes time, energy and sacrifice and I am incredibly grateful to have them beside me throughout the process.

I want to recognize my parents, H.S Kim and D.H Kim, for everything they have given me throughout my life. The values they instilled in me, hard work, patience, staying true to myself, perseverance, humility and the importance of continuing to move forward, have played a major role in shaping who I am today.

I am also incredibly thankful for my brother, C.M Kim, who has Down syndrome but is never limited. Throughout my life, he has been one of my greatest sources of positivity and perspective.

He has been a constant and unbiased source of perspective for me, someone who doesn’t judge me by my accomplishments, career, successes, or failure but simply accepts me for who I am.

I currently train and provide personal training at Anytime Fitness in Lacey, Washington. I am incredibly grateful to have a place where I can continue building KC KIM FITNESS and work with people from all different backgrounds and fitness levels.

I also want to take a moment to sincerely thank the owner, operator and friend, Jared Lindberg. His support, trust and willingness to provide me with an opportunity to pursue my passion have meant a great deal to me.
Having the right people around you can make all the difference and I am genuinely thankful to have the Anytime Fitness community as part of this journey.

KC KIM FITNESS may carry my name but it certainly was not built by me alone. The people closest to me have helped shape the person I am and in many ways, they are part of the reason I have been able to find my way back to my passion.

I am incredibly grateful for my family and for everyone who has supported, encouraged, challenged and believed in me along the way. Their support has allowed me to pursue something that I genuinely love and hopefully, use that passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
