Conversations with Antonio Torres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Torres.

Hi Antonio, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Benevolent Sol started as a project made directly to confront people about their reality. Benevolent Sol started in 2023 in Seattle, playing mostly house and college shows. In the earlier days of the band, the emphasis was on the quality of our live performances and songwriting more than anything, which ultimately led me to create the interwoven parallel universe within our songs. With that, we found our stride and started working on our first album, “Barely.Informed.Local.Lifeform” which was recorded DIY, a choice made to convey the rawness that the songs in that album carry thematically. Once I found my creative pocket for this project, we were able to start playing at bigger and bigger venues, and people began to care and support the message we are trying to spread. In the summer of 2026, Benevolent Sol is moving to New York, where we will record our first studio EP and album.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been challenges, but it has been very challenging to convey that Benevolent Sol is more of a movement and message than a band. Benevolent Sol exists to reflect our reality back onto ourselves because understanding is the only way forward, especially in today’s world. It exists to not give you a choice in reflecting on everything that it is to be a human right now, whether that’s the intensity of our love, hate, kindness, or indifference.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I, Tonio, am a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist — I write all the songs and compose the narrative for Benevolent Sol. I primarily play guitar and songwrite, but I am working to specialize in mixing and mastering. Those who know me tend to know me for my songwriting and political message, both of which are driving forces of Benevolent Sol. I am very proud of the progress we have made both musically and in growing our community.

What’s next?
My plan for the future is just to keep the Benevolent Sol train running so that we can make a real difference with the message we are trying to spread. Because we all know the world needs changing. I am looking forward to all the people I am going to get to work with as we assemble a new live band and record our songs in the studio.
