Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy.
Hi Wendy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in critical care as a registered nurse and then moved to urgent care and family medicine as a nurse practitioner, but my passion for healthcare really began much earlier through my upbringing. Growing up in a immigrant, farming lifestyle, I saw firsthand how language barriers, financial stress, and limited access to care could impact families and their health decisions. Those experiences shaped the way I approach patient care today — with empathy, accessibility, and a strong focus on making people feel heard and respected.
As a bilingual provider, I recognized that many patients often felt rushed or overlooked within the traditional healthcare system. That inspired me to create CuraDirect Healthcare — a practice centered on personalized, relationship-based care with transparent pricing, longer visits, and direct communication between patients and their provider.
One of the most rewarding parts of building the practice has been seeing how this model works for such a wide variety of people — from busy parents and small business owners to patients without insurance, individuals with high deductibles, and families who simply want more preventative and personalized care. Offering bilingual care in both English and Spanish has also allowed us to better serve and connect with our local community in a more comfortable and meaningful way.
Today, my focus remains on creating a healthcare experience that feels approachable and genuinely personal while helping patients feel empowered in their health journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a healthcare practice from the ground up came with a lot of uncertainty, financial pressure, and personal risk. I stepped away from the traditional healthcare system to build something I truly believed was better for patients — longer visits, transparent pricing, direct access to care, and a more personalized experience — without knowing exactly how things would turn out.
At the same time, I was balancing many of the same realities that other families face: student loan debt after years of education, a mortgage, raising a family, and trying to create financial stability while starting a business from scratch. There’s often a perception that healthcare providers have everything figured out, but the reality is I’ve experienced many of the same stresses and uncertainties as the community I serve.
Balancing the roles of provider, mother, business owner, and now employer has been challenging at times. Building something meaningful has required long hours, sacrifice, and learning the business side of healthcare while still staying connected to patient care and the community.
There were definitely moments of doubt, but those challenges reinforced why I started CuraDirect Healthcare in the first place — to create a healthcare experience where people feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for regardless of their background or financial situation.
As you know, we’re big fans of CuraDirect Healthcare. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
CuraDirect Healthcare is a Direct Primary Care practice based in Everett, Washington. We focus on providing personalized, relationship-based healthcare with an emphasis on accessibility, prevention, and patient education. Instead of the traditional rushed healthcare experience, we offer longer visits, direct communication with patients, transparent pricing, and a more individualized approach to care.
I provide a wide range of services including primary care, preventive care, weight management, hormone replacement and chronic disease management. One thing that sets us apart is that we truly try to meet patients where they are — whether that’s someone without insurance, a family with a high deductible plan, a busy working parent, or someone simply looking for more personalized healthcare.
As a bilingual practice offering care in both English and Spanish, community connection has always been a major part of our mission. We want patients to feel comfortable, heard, and respected regardless of their background. I think what also makes the brand unique is that it blends evidence-based advanced nursing and medical care with a more approachable and human-centered experience.
What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built within the community and the relationships we’ve developed with patients. Many people come to us because they’re looking for a different healthcare experience — one where they feel known as a person, not just a chart or appointment slot. That’s really the foundation of the brand and the vision behind everything we do.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are a few different ways people can work with, collaborate with, or support CuraDirect Healthcare depending on their needs and interests.
From a patient standpoint, we always welcome individuals and families looking for healthcare through our Direct Primary Care membership. This allows us to continue our work.
We also collaborate with local providers, wellness professionals, and community partners who share a similar philosophy around prevention, accessibility, and patient-centered care. This includes referral relationships, shared care coordination, and opportunities to work together on improving access to services within the community with affordable self-pay pricing.
On the support side, the biggest way people contribute is simply by sharing our mission and helping others learn about a different way to experience primary care. Word of mouth and community trust have been a huge part of our growth, especially for patients who are looking for alternatives to traditional insurance-based care and who recommend us to their friends and families.
Overall, we’re always open to meaningful partnerships and community connections that align with our values of accessible, compassionate, and personalized care.
