Meet Eva Burrow of Washington State

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Burrow.

Hi Eva, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I moved to the USA from Europe, I knew I wanted to start a different kind of career. No more 9 to 5, no more pressure, and no more time away from family. Photography has been my passion and love since I was a little girl. I admired wedding photographers and thought, “Could this be me?” With a lot of time on my hands and very little money in my bank account, I invested it all in new gear for a professional photographer and started learning how to become a lifestyle family photographer who provides excellent service. My first paid session happened in July 2018, and my clients came from Craigslist. Since then, I have photographed hundreds and hundreds of families and expanded my business into branding photography as well.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My business has been growing slowly and steadily. Since its’ beginning, I have started a family, overcome the pandemic, and moved across the country to Washington, where I basically had to start over. Family photography is an oversaturated market, and you have to find your voice and your ideal clientele within it.
When I started taking it seriously, I realized it’s not only about taking good pictures. There are many hidden aspects of running a business that I certainly didn’t think about when I first pick up a camera, and that can be a little daunting at times.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I devote myself to every single one of my clients. I basically become their best friend for a short period of time—or for years when they come back to me again and again as their families grow. I put my clients at ease during the photo session and make sure they all feel comfortable and have fun, including the kids and the husbands.
I do not focus on creating the perfect photo. Rather, I want to witness and capture their family connections and dynamics. I capture authentic photos of their sweet family chaos.
I am most proud of the service and level of professionalism I offer my clients. That’s what makes them have a great experience and want to come back year after year.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I do not think there has been much random luck included in my business. But I have been lucky with an amazing clients finding their way to me!
