Today we’d like to introduce you to Dayne Kuhlmann.
Hi Dayne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I didn’t set out to build an agency, I set out to build something meaningful.
Victory Media started about eight years ago with a simple idea: great storytelling, executed the right way, can actually move businesses forward. Early on, it was a grind. We took on anything we could, made mistakes, learned fast, and reinvested everything back into getting better … better work, better systems, better people.
There was a stretch where we were working incredibly hard and still losing money. I remember one of our first Christmas parties, when we were down about $10,000 after more than a year in business. But that season was important. It forced clarity. It made me realize this wasn’t just about doing creative work, it was about building a team, building trust, and helping clients grow in a real, measurable way.
Over time, that focus started to compound. We leaned into high-quality video production, strategic media buying, and really understanding how to connect story with performance. We began working with brands across retail, automotive, healthcare, and home services, and expanded beyond Spokane into markets like Missoula, Phoenix and Boise.
Today, Victory Media is a full-service agency working across multiple markets, producing everything from broadcast campaigns to digital strategies that drive real results. We’ve been fortunate to win awards and grow consistently, but more importantly, we’ve built a team and a culture that I’m genuinely proud of.
For me personally, the journey has been about learning how to lead.. through uncertainty, through growth, and through responsibility. I’m a husband, a dad of two, and a person of faith, and those things shape how I approach business. It’s not just about scaling a company, it’s about building something that lasts, creates opportunity for others, and does work we can stand behind.
We’re still early in the story. And that’s probably the most exciting part.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating growth. It sounds like a good problem, but it comes with real pressure; cash flow, hiring the right people, and building systems that can actually support the work. You go from being the one doing everything to the one responsible for everything, and that shift isn’t easy. I had to learn how to lead, not just produce.
We’ve also had moments where things didn’t go as planned, campaigns that underperformed, clients that didn’t work out, tough financial seasons, and even legal and contract-related challenges that tested us. Those situations force you to tighten up your processes, your communication, and your standards.
Internally, building a team and culture that can operate at a high level consistently has been one of the hardest, (and most important) parts. Talent is everything in this business, and getting the right people in the right seats takes time, trust, and sometimes tough decisions.
On a personal level, balancing all of that with family, faith, and just staying grounded has been its own challenge. There are seasons where you feel stretched thin and question whether you’re doing enough in any one area.
But looking back, none of those struggles were wasted. They’ve shaped how we operate today; more disciplined, more focused, and more intentional about the kind of work we take on and the people we work with.
We’ve been impressed with Victory Media, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Victory Media is a full-service advertising agency built around one core belief: creative should drive results, not just look good.
We specialize in high-end video production and strategic media buying, bringing those two pieces together in a way that most agencies don’t. We’re known for producing cinematic, story-driven content and then placing it with precision across broadcast TV, OTT/streaming, and digital platforms to actually move the needle.
What sets us apart is that we don’t separate creative from performance. The same team thinking about the story is also thinking about targeting, distribution, and ROI. That alignment is where real growth happens.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve built something trusted. Our clients rely on us not just to create, but to think, to guide, and to execute at a high level consistently.
At the end of the day, we help brands show up in a way that feels real, looks exceptional, and performs.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Relationships, faith, and being the best at what we do.
Because strong relationships and a grounded faith create the foundatio.. and from there, pursuing excellence is how we honor that in our work and how we serve others.
