Community Highlights: Meet Caci Harmon of Total Body Massage and Pain Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caci Harmon.

Hi Caci, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2017 my husband was retiring from the Army, and I needed to find a career. I really wanted to help people and was looking at different programs that would allow me to do that. I had been intrigued with massage at one point in my life and looked into schools that offered massage therapy courses. I found Bodymecanics School of Myotherapy and Massage through my massage therapist and was intrigued by their program. I wasn’t really interested in spa therapy and Bodymechanics program focused more on injury treatment. I knew that I would like to do massage, however I never knew that I would love what I do and how I help people get out and stay out of pain. I graduated in 2018 and started working for a chiropractor in the Olympia area.

In 2021 my family moved to Pasco, Wa to be closer to family. I worked for a couple of chiropractors before deciding to open my own massage business. In 2023 I started Total Body Massage and Pain Management. I started slow, part time renting a room for about a year. I was able to go full time in 2024 and never looked back. I love the freedom it gives me to do other things.

January 2026 I purchased a local massage school and am looking forward to teaching new massage therapist. I hope through Advanced Bodywork School of Massage I will be able to future students reach their dreams and goals the same way I was encouraged to reach mine.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was surprised on how smooth the road to my dream has been. When I found the massage school I wanted to go to, I was worried about the schedule because I had a small child in school. Their morning schedule allowed me to put my son on the bus and be home when he got home. I was able to use my husbands GI bill to pay for school so I was able to not have to work. I found a great job after I got licensed and was even able to find employment after I moved.

I had the support from my family when I decided to go out on my own. I did work part time until I was busy enough to quit and go full time with my business. I have had a few bumps along the way. I was working 6 days a week sometimes and I didn’t always get to do the fun things with my family.

Buying the school was easy at first but I have had to work with the DOH to get approval to start classes. That has taught me a lot about patience and the favorite military phrase “Hurry up and wait”

We’ve been impressed with Total Body Massage and Pain Management, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in injury treatment massage. I am also certified in PKT modality, where I am able to help people with balance issues, especially after an injury. I also take most insurances and offer some evening and Saturday appointments. I use stretching and resistance during a massage along with cupping.

I am proud of what I do. I love what I do. I love to think outside of the box when someone comes in with a pain that won’t go away. I love to educate my clients on what they can do to help themselves get out of pain. I love when my clients tell their friends and family about me.

I care about my clients and their wellbeing. I want them to not want to see me often because they feel better.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Have a good support system. Have someone who will challenge you to think about how you’re going to start your own business or chase your dream. Find others who specialize in a business that will support yours. Find your niche in whatever you want to do. Just because 10 other people are doing the same thing, doesn’t mean you can’t do it and make it your own.

You are never to old to start something new. I was 42 years old when I started massage school.

I wish that I had found massage sooner in my life, but I am also glad I didn’t find it until later.
