Inspiring Conversations with Dr Josephine Harris of Calming Minds PLLC | Calming Minds Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Josephine Harris.

Hi Dr Josephine , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Dr. Josephine “Dr. Jo” Harris’s journey began not in a boardroom or on a stage, but in the quiet work of healing—both personally and professionally. Early in her career, she recognized a familiar tension many high-achieving women face: outward success paired with internal doubt. That awareness became the foundation of her life’s work.

With a background in counseling psychology and years of experience in clinical practice, education, and leadership, Dr. Harris has built a career focused on helping individuals break free from anxiety, imposter syndrome, and burnout. Her work bridges evidence-based mental health care with faith-centered resilience, offering a grounded and compassionate approach to healing.

Today, Dr. Harris is a mental health professional, educator, author, and founder, known for creating programs and platforms that empower women and leaders to lead with confidence, clarity, and purpose. Her story reflects a core belief: healing is possible, confidence can be learned, and personal transformation creates generational impact.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. There were seasons when the calling was clear, but the path forward was not. One of the greatest struggles was learning to trust God while navigating self-doubt, burnout, and the pressure to carry leadership without rest. Faith didn’t remove the challenges—it revealed them.

There were moments when I had to confront the belief that strength meant endurance without limits. I learned that obedience sometimes looked like slowing down, setting boundaries, and choosing alignment over approval. Spiritually, I had to reconcile ambition with surrender, and purpose with patience.

Those seasons deepened my faith. They taught me that confidence is not self-manufactured—it’s cultivated through trust. What felt like delays were often divine redirection. The struggles didn’t weaken my calling; they clarified it. Today, my work is rooted in the understanding that healing, leadership, and faith are not separate journeys—they are deeply connected, and growth requires both courage and grace.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Calming Minds PLLC | Calming Minds Academy ?
My work centers on mental wellness, identity restoration, and sustainable leadership. Through my practice and educational platforms, I serve individuals—particularly high-achieving women, leaders, and faith-driven professionals—who look successful on the outside but are quietly battling anxiety, imposter syndrome, burnout, and emotional exhaustion.

What sets my work apart is the integration of clinical psychology, lived experience, and faith-centered strategy. I don’t believe healing should be either spiritual or evidence-based—it should be both. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and practical, helping people not only understand why they feel the way they do, but how to move forward with clarity and confidence.

I’m known for addressing imposter syndrome in a way that goes beyond surface-level motivation. We don’t just talk about confidence—we rebuild identity, strengthen boundaries, and develop emotional resilience so growth is sustainable, not performative. Whether through therapy, teaching, writing, or speaking, the work always comes back to helping people stop shrinking and start leading from wholeness.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating spaces where people feel seen, safe, and challenged at the same time. My brand stands for honesty over hustle, healing over hype, and alignment over achievement at all costs. I want readers to know that my work isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about returning to who you were created to be, with the tools, support, and faith to walk it out with confidence.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that often surprises people is that the confidence they see today was built, not inherited. I didn’t always trust my voice or feel secure in leadership spaces. In fact, much of my work around imposter syndrome grew out of my own journey of learning to lead while still healing.

Another surprise is how intentional I am about rest and boundaries. People often assume that because I do a lot, I’m always “on.” The truth is, I protect my quiet time fiercely. Prayer, reflection, and margin are not extras in my life—they’re essential. Without them, I wouldn’t have the clarity or capacity to serve well.

What most people may not know is that my greatest growth didn’t come from pushing harder, but from slowing down and listening—to God, to my body, and to the truth beneath the noise. That practice continues to shape both my personal life and the heart of my brand.
