Rising Stars: Meet Jon Meggison of Seattle, WA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Meggison.

Hi Jon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Lynnwood born-and-raised actor Jon Meggison hit the ground running when he began his acting career in January 2020, working through the challenges of the pandemic, self-promoting, and quickly landing roles in films alongside big names like Eric Roberts and Robert Lasardo. Within his first year, he acted in 10 films and four commercials, winning the Best Lead Actor award for his performance in the indie film It Takes Talent, which also won Best Drama at the Paris Film Festival and him winning his first accolade for best lead actor.

When the country shut down at the beginning of 2020, Meggison, in an attempt to keep busy, decided he would try his luck with modeling. He reached out to the Seattle Talent agency, doing several commercial print projects for outlet stores such as Macy’s and H&M. While modeling, his agency asked him if he had any interest in acting. At first, he told them no. A few months went by and the agency kept asking, so Meggison caved and decided he would give it a shot.

“It seemed like during COVID a lot of people weren’t trying to find work. To me it was a blessing because it really gave me an opportunity to learn about the industry and how it operates and to work on my craft ,” said Meggison – Lynnwood Times reporter Kienan Briscoe

Completely self-taught, Meggison began practicing monologues at home, reading acting books, and watching Youtube tutorials before eventually auditioning for his first film, “Operation Y2K,” in March 2020. He continues to look up to and study, his favorite actors – Michael B. Jordan, Denzel Washington, Will Smith and his favorite director Ryan Coogler – with hopes of someday sharing the screen with them.

Since acting in “Operation Y2K,” Meggison has continued to find consistent work including the feature film Survivor’s Choice, alongside Eric Roberts, Julia Roberts’ brother.

Before he knew it, Meggison was signing with his agent Wendy Woods of The TWG Talent Agency, receiving auditions for television and network studio films.

In 2023 he took home the Soul Café’s Actor of the Year Award.

Most recently – separate to his directing/writing endeavors – Meggison will star in the upcoming slasher horror ‘Jason Vorhees: Nightmare’ as the character Miller, who will be the main antagonist in the three-film franchise. This is a sequel to the 2024 Jason Vorhees: Origins in which Meggison played the same part working along side Hollywood legend Robert Lasardo known for his roles in Leon: The Professional, Waterworld, Death Race, Law and Order, Bones, Nip/Tuck, Training Day.)

“When I stepped on set with him [LaSardo] it was the coolest thing. He pushed me and gave me a lot of good advice. It’s crazy because I remember watching in on TV as a kid and now I got to work with him,” said Meggison.

Jason Vorhees Nightmare will be released in March, 2026. It’s directed/written by Aaron Carlson from CCC entertainment.

In most recent news in January 2025 Meggison made his directorial Debut for a short film that he wrote, directed and acted for a short film called “Battle Of Love” which won him two awards at the IndieFest Film festival 2025 (Best First-Time Director and Best Lead Actor) The story is based on Meggison’s own lived experiences, through relationships and hardships, following a couple (Michelle and Jeff) as they are forced to confront the choices that brought them together—and the roads that may ultimately pull them apart. With the success of the short the audience wanted more and Meggison spent several months writing the full length feature film and is now in full production.

The Feature film Where the Road Ends is an extension of Michelle and Jeff’s story as they navigate a defining moment in their lives—one shaped by love, loyalty, and the weight of unfinished business. Surrounded by friends, obstacles, and personal truths, their journey becomes a powerful reflection on commitment, growth, and what it means to keep moving forward when the path ahead is unclear.

Where the Road Ends stars Amanda Hoang reclaiming her role as Michelle in Battle of Love, Mia Mosley as Anna, Grace Madland as Mia, Neal Cabanos as Kobe, Saman Hassan as Jessica, Christopher Clark as Tommy, Lexy Greenwood as the therapist, Zoe Callista as Zoe, and Mike Rodriquez as Rodney.

“This added cast brings more light and really helps bring the story together. These are really familiar characters that people can relate to,” Meggison told the Lynnwood Times. “This full feature film is based on experiences and things I went through and is a real story of what I experienced. It’s a story for millennials and what dating is like in today’s time. This will be my first time directing, acting and producing a film on my own.”

The themes of Meggison’s character-driven romantic drama include personal crossroads and life-changing decisions, relationships under pressure, loyalty, growth and self-discovery, and the emotional weight of choosing a future”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has the farthest from smooth. As an actor we face some much rejection auditioning for any project & a lot of the times we don’t book a role there’s so many factors that play into it that we can’t control. Height, size, weight, hair color etc. So auditioning time after time and have to stay positive and keep going and telling yourself “the next one” mentally it can take a toll on you. Because one minute you’re on hot streak and working on so many sets because you’ve booked some roles and then the next 6 months can be crickets and nothing. And that is a hard thing so all you can do is just keep auditioning and doing the work and so I tell myself “what’s for me is for me and what is not is a blessing because something bigger is coming”

For me I’ve had a year where I’ve had over 200 auditions and got called back for maybe 25 of those and booked about 3-5. At the end of the day you have to have fun with it and take auditions as an opportunity to work on your craft and perform.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The people that deserve the most credit are all the producers, directors that took a chance on me and allowed me to bring my talents to their stories and breathe life into these characters. Im forever grateful for everyone I’ve gotten to work with.

Director – Calvin McCarthy was the first director that gave me my first lead role in my first movie called “A haunting In Ravenwood” (2020) that went to streaming platforms
Apple TV, Tubi, Apple TV & prime video. I played a character Eric Olsen, who was very dark; narcissistic, manipulative individual. Mentally preparing for that was the biggest challenge because there was a lot of weight to carry and it required me to go to a whole other mindset mentally that was exhausting. And I wasn’t sure if I could do it. But director Calvin McCarthy believed in me and took a chance.

Aaron Carlson – This director i have built a 6 year relationship with and has appeared in many of his projects. In the latest over the last 3 years i have been in a 3 movie franchise called the “Horror Verse” playing the role of the antagonist “Miller” playing this bad guy has been a dream come true. And it has really showed me my range and what I could do as a performer. When he first approached me. He told me that he wrote a role that was perfect for me and when we talked about it and what ultimately would happen I was instantly in. When a director says they wrote a role for you that’s the best feeling as an actor / actress.
